The Group

Welcome to the ISHS Working Group on Modelling in Fruit Research and Orchard Management.  Anyone interested in the modelling of any aspect of fruit crops and their management is welcome and encouraged to join this Working Group.

The Group's meetings have been very cross-discipline in nature with participants developing and applying models for crop development and productivity, environment, production economics, pest dynamics, and practical integrated decision support systems.  A strength of the group is the strong interaction between modelling and experimentation in the field at several levels of hierarchy from the ecosystem to the cell.  We encourage the participation of all those interested in the modelling of horticultural systems.

The group began with a symposium convened in 1985 by the late Prof. Fritz Winter.  The main activity of the Working Group is the three-yearly Symposium where members meet to exchange ideas, and learn from the broad range of experiences available.
