MetWatch Online is a web version of the award winning MetWatch software. MetWatch Online aims to reliably provide customized access to unique, critical weather information, disease information and interpretations to assist individuals in making the right decisions for better management of their crops and disease for quality and value - while gaining piece of mind.

MetWatch You will have access all of the weather stations from the extensive HortPlus Weather Station Network for data when you want it, with a wide range of analysis tools. This includes hour-by-hour weather information with highly localized weather forecasts, 10-day regional forecasts and interpretations of this data for disease risk, also growing degree days and winter chilling units data. As an added bonus you will also have the extended historic weather records of all weather stations for analysis and comparison.

MetWatch Online can help you to document the decision making process - helping you to meet requirements of various Integrated Production programs and EurepGAP. Weather station data and weather forecast information is combined and interpreted for:

Weather Forecasts

Weather forecasting information is provided by MetService - New Zealands premier provider of weather forecasting services.

A question we are commonly asked is "How accurate is the forecast?", a difficult question to answer. It is asked so often that we decided to cover it in the monthly 'Weather Sense' column that we provide for the Orchardist magazine. The article is titled 'Weather Forecast Accuracy' and is split over 4 consecutive months from March to June in 2009. Hour-by-Hour (High Precision) Forecast

Hour-by-Hour (High Precision) Forecast A unique, world leading forecast that brings years of research & design to your decision making. An extremely advanced computer model is feed local weather data for calibration and generates this forecast. With the MetWatch software, the forecast is optional addition.

  • Highly localized forecasts for sub-regions going out 2½ - 3 days. Choose from 25+ sub-regional forecasts.

10-Day Forecast A regional text forecast going out 14 days to provide longer term planning horizons. This text forecast is available for 16 regions around the country. It is written by a meteorologist and updated once a day around 9am.

5-Day Max/Min

A sub-regional forecast for daily high temperatures and overnight low temperatures. This forecast is updated once a day around 9am by a meteorologist.

National Outlook

A general forecast for the entire country as a whole. This forecast is updated once a day around 9am by a meteorologist.

Weather Maps

Weather Map A prognosis and situation weather map (chart) is also available for you to get a bigger picture of the forcasted weather patterns around the country currently and for the next day. This is updated twice a day, every 12 hours from midnight.

Additional forecasts include a Due Point forecast (including a manual calculator), Frost risk for tonight and tomorrow, and Sever Weather Warnings (SWW).

Pest & Disease Management

HortPlus MetWatch OnLine unleashes the power of hourly weather station data and hour-by-hour weather forecast information using sophisticated disease risk assessment models.
Disease risk assessment models interpret weather information giving information on recent disease behavior as well as predicted disease risk.

GDD Calculator Crop management information is available to all users of MetWatch OnLine through the summaries menu item. These tools include growing degree days (GDD) and chill unit calculators, PET calculations and temperature/rainfall comparisons.

Growing Degree Day and Winter Chilling data provide critical information for many crop management decisions, and are excellent for making between season comparisons.

Which MetWatch is best for me?

Generally MWOL is your best option, but if you need to import your own data or do other things with the weather data like reports, you may be better off with the MetWatch Software.

Returns Policy

HortPlus stands behind its products. If you are not happy, we are not happy!

If a product is defective we will either replace it or refund the purchase price at your direction.

If for any other reason you are not entirely happy with your purchase and you would like to return it for full refund within 30 days of receipt, call us first then return the software, hardware, and any accompanying materials. For a full refund to be available any hardware must be returned in the same condition in which it was shipped to you.

Note that demo units are available for most of our products so you can try before you buy. We limit refunds to unit sales, eg if you are interested in purchasing 100 data loggers buy one and try before buying the 100!
