Our network includes key research-grade weather stations which are professionally installed by our team or trusted partners, following scientific and WMO (World Meteorological Organization) standards. For these stations, we maintain high-quality historical datasets, in some cases extending back up to 20 years.
HortPlus weather data can be used in GIS and research applications, supporting data overlays, analysis, and the development of new tools and models. If you already operate weather stations or compatible hardware, these can be integrated into the HortPlus platform to create a tailored private network. This approach is well suited to research trials or projects where a single, managed source of data is important.
Data is accessible through our web-based platform and via programmatic APIs.
Managed & Curated Weather Data
HortPlus manages weather data end to end, standardising data from our network into a consistent, usable format. Key stations are installed and maintained to scientific and WMO standards, with long-running stations in key New Zealand growing regions providing historical records for trend analysis and retrospective studies.
Data is subject to quality checks, with clear flags for missing or out-of-range values. Station metadata is maintained alongside the data, and curated datasets are accessible through the MetWatch platform, standard exports, or via our Weather Data API.
Weather data API to power your systems
We provide a secure Weather Data API for programmatic access to our data. The API is designed to support high-volume use and can be integrated with tools such as Power BI, existing applications, and web services, or used as a data source for commercial and research workflows.
We offer clear API documentation and practical support to help you get started and integrate the API into your systems and data pipelines. This includes standard Python and PHP libraries to bootstrap projects, with optional consulting support available for more complex integrations.

Weather Data file
You can access the MetWatch platform directly to view and export weather data. Data can be exported for selected variables and time periods in a standard CSV format.
